How To Fertilize Your Vegetable Garden

Vegetable plants need extra nutrients than what they can get from sunshine, soil, and water. They need extra nutrients to thrive and grow, turning your garden into the healthy food source you intend it to be.

These extra nutrients will need to come from a good garden fertilizer. You will need to fertilize your garden by first beginning with the fresh soil. Spread the fertilizer evenly over the soil. You can do this by using a simple hand spreader. Once the fertilizer is spread, turn the fertilizer over into the soil, using a hand spade, or a tiller, if you prefer.

Remember, it is possible to over fertilize. Over fertilizing may result in burning up the plants. Be sure you follow the directions given by the fertilizers manufacturer.
After finishing the fertilizing process, plant your vegetables. Water them, according to each vegetable plants instruction, and watch them grow.

However, there is a second process of fertilizing. This comes about midway of their growth.

The second process is totally different than the first. This time, you will not need to be turning over any soil. Instead, you will be making a trench row alongside the plants. You can do this by using a regular hoe. Once the trenchs are made, apply the fertilizer, using the same amount throughout the garden as in the beginning, into the trenchs. Cover the fertilizer with the trench soil. As you irrigate, or the rains come, the fertilizer will work its way into the plant roots.
